TAFE; FINAL PORTFOLIO

So it's finally the end of the course and here is a screen shot of my final 10 images to present tonight at school

The parker furniture was shot inside a studio using exiting furniture that I styled in the space available. The painting was done by my friends grandmother and sat well within the set.

The truck combines with the shots of the farrier for some form of continuity and the rest speak for themselves.

I chose to do some people shots as it is not something I do a lot of at work. I have learned a lot in thr process of capturing people and will continue to refine my technique. I thought it was good to have variety in my portfolio so that clients can see diversity in my ability which will lead to all types of jobs..

In the future I would like to focus more on commercial/ advertisement/ product. However for the purposes of the course I tried a little of everything :)

Thanks

TAFE; AMIRA

I have a very beautiful friend called Amira who I photographed on a whim for pleasure.

TAFE; DIGITAL ENLARGEMENT

One week we used one of our existing images and converted them into a Black and White image on photoshop. from there we were sent to use a digital enlarger to expose our image to paper that would be processed with chemicals in the darkroom.

I did not have a very contrasting image to begin with so the results were less successful however I did try processing chemically and also with a normal inkjet printer which resulted in 2 very different results...

TOP IMAGE WAS CHEMICALLY PROCESSED

BOTTOM IMAGE WAS AN INKJET PRINT

TAFE; CREATIVE PHOTOSHOP EXERCISES

During the year we were also taught some simple photoshop techniques to help us enhance our images.

Some of the examples can be seen here below (PLEASE NOTE; NONE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY IS MINE)

The exercises include using blending tools and masking objects.

TAFE; PRINT- WOOD TRANSFER

For my last assignment I decided to make an inkjet print and transfer it to a block of timber. This is a very simple but fun process that involves only a few items..

Cost

timber chopping board $17
Mod Podge $20
sandpaper $0.80
brushes $5
sealant $15

All you need to do is make a print to normal (not photographic) paper (if there is text you  must remember to mirror the image so that it transfers the right way and not laterally reversed)

Once you have the print I quickly sandpapered down the chopping board (I chose to do this as the chopping board appeared to be treated and I wanted to remove some of this to improve my transfer)

Once prepped it was just a matter of brushing down the chopping board and print with Mod podge glue and carefully placing down the print Ink side down onto the board.

Smooth out bubbles and leave to dry for the day (if in a hurry use a blow dryer)

dampen lightly with a cloth and using fingers, rub away the paper.

Seal with whichever material you choose ...

TAFE; FARRIER JUD

Last week I had the opportunity to meet my horses Farrier Jud, a big broad and well defined operatic singer and hard working farrier.

I shot just detail shots to focus on his hands and the tools used for the job.
